three felonies
my son already has 2 felonies.he was arrested tonight on child endangerment would that make it 3 felonies and also fall under the 3 strikes law or do the 3 strikes have to all be of the same kind of criminal action

Not all felonies are strikes. Only "serious" or "violent" felonies are strikes, and the felonies that qualify are identified by statute. If your son's prior crimes aren't on that list then they're not strikes.
And no, a prior crime does not have to resemble the current charge to count as a strike.

The three-strikes law pertains to ''serious'' or ''violent'' felonies. The code section under which your son was charge in the past, and the section under which he is currently charged will decide whether or not the charges are counted as ''strikes.''
