What is the difference between a felony offense and a criminal offense? (possesion of knife)

Felonies and misdemeanors are different categfories of criminal offenses. Generally, a crime which can be punished by more than a year in prison is considered a flony while those which carry lesser penalties are misdemeanors. Some minor offenses are considered infractions instead. All felonies are criminal offenses, but not not all criminal offenses are felonies.
