Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Felony reduced or expunged?
I have a felony conviction for auto theft. The date of the conviction was 3/2000. I was granted probation w/ jail time, then subsequently violated 2 1/2 years into 3 year term. Am currently on parole, to be released in April. I have a clean record prior to this and since. What are my options after succesful completion of parole, if any? I can't find a job and it's hurting my financial situation considerably. Help, please!!

Re: Felony reduced or expunged?
Hello---Thank you for your question. Yes, it is possible to have a Felony reduced to a Misdemeanor and then to expunge the Misdemeanor per Penal Code 1203.4. I would recommend that you wait until your parole period has terminated, so that you give yourself your best opportunity to convince the Judge that you are a good candidate for such relief.
