Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My fianc�e was arrested April 7, 2011 With Assault w/deadly weapon other than firearm and ENH-Inflict Great Bodily Harm. Today was his pretrial and it was listed as heard but he was also suppose to be attending court the 20th and it says " cancel ", Yesterday the victim turned in a letter informing the court that it was all a mistake, they where having fun and things got out of control but they didn't want to press charges against him. his release status was remanded and he now has two different court dates for next month, the case is currently open and I'm personally scared, I think I would feel a little more relieved if the information was broken down so i could understand...

Let me guess, and forgive me if I'm wrong, it's you who called the police and had him jailed to begin with. Whether the DA continues with the charges won't be up to the alleged victim, who had so much alleged "fun" that she suffered great bodily harm.

His next court dates are 5/11 for pretrial and 5/18 for preliminary hearing. The case is still active.

He is represented by e public defender who will know about what (if any) impact the alleged victim's letter may have.
