This is a good question, you can write any county that you think you may have charges in and ask them if you have any open cases. They will usually respond within four weeks. On a related note I want to share my advice for people filing P.C. 1381 demands.
As you know these are filed by inmates while in a California prison. Whenever a person submits the form to a correctional officer they should keep a handwritten copy, this means that you ask for two forms and make your own duplicate. On the duplicate you write down the name of the officer that you gave it to and the date and time you submitted it. This helps you prove that you submitted it because records can be subpoenaed to show that the officer was present and on duty on that date and time.
