Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Can I find out what a case is about?

I have recently been subpoenad by the state of California in a case relating to a relative. If I have the case number, is there any way that I can find out what this case is about. It is schedule for preliminary hearing next week.

You can call the attorney who issued the subpoena and ask or check the court file which is a public record.
