Firefighter opening a Fire Hydrant
Is it right that a career firefighter is being punished for opening a hydrant at home? Approx. 5gal loss?

Probably. Would you prefer that firefighters be allowed to get away with illegal conduct that potentially threatens a neighborhood's fire safety? The small amount of water involved should be taken into account, but shouldn't absolve him.

If you are being charged criminally, meaning you are facing misdemeanor charges and not a simple infraction ticket, then perhaps there is a way to fight your case depending upon the full circumstances of what happened. You might want to consider retaining an attorney. Feel free to contact me for a free consultation if you are looking for someone in Southern California.
