Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My ex forged my name on an auto lease.

When I was very ill, my ex forged my

name on an auto lease. I thought I had

done it and took responsibiity for the

payments when we broke up, thinking I

had done it. But looking at a copy of the

lease Toyota sent me at my request, I

see it's not even close to my signature.

She works for that same corporation. I

made many payments. Can I get it back?

Will she be fired? Who do I tell?

Re: My ex forged my name on an auto lease.

You need to notify the lessor immediately; if you don't do this but keep making payments it will become much harder for you to later deny that the obligation is yours. You should probably also report your ex to the police, and you may want to sue her for reimbursement of your payments and for any other consequences her actions may have caused.

Whether she will be fired will depend upon many facts which you have not provided. There is no legal requiremetn that someone accused of such misconduct be fired, and the decision about how to proceed will be her employer's to make -- assuming it ever even finds out about these allegations.

By the way, I presume your ex has the car. If you have it you should expect to lose it as soon as you deny having signed the contract.
