You'll need to clear this up thorough court. Your attorney should be filing a motion to dismiss based on the excessive delay in the case - a "Serna motion"

Nobody gets convicted in absentia. It sounds as though you have charges filed against you and that you have a warrant out for your arrest. You need to get an attorney and address the outstanding warrant. You can't win on a Serna motion is you were a fugitive.
