Fraud

My truck was stolen from my drive way on oct the 15th of 2006 there is a police report,

on sat jan 13 2007 we were heading to church when we spotted our stolen truck ,so we decided to follow it ,we called the police and they arrested the people that were in the truck, but they let them go because to my surprise some how they had registered the truck through the DMV under their name and had all the legal documents that made the police think that the truck was thiers ,the police have the truck until they can figure whose it is ,my question is ?How can this guy register a stolen truck under his name when the truck is still in the system as stolen??

Re: Fraud

They shouldn't have been able to register the truck. However, if they bought it from a dealer without knowing it was stolen they may have obtained good title to it. If that is what happened you may have a claim against the dealer or against whoever overlooked the defective title.

I had a very similar case several years ago in which I represented the finance company. Please feel free to contact me directly if you want to discuss your situation further.
