Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Fraud/identity theft

I have been divorced over 15 yrs, recently i discoved that my ex husb has used my name and ss# to get credit cards and also added himself to current cards as auth user. All without my auth or knowledge? He changed the credit card mailing address to his address so I never knew about the credit cards. Please advise...I have been researching and also when I say ex husb.....it seems to hurt my case!

What your husband has done is a crime. Call the police in his city and tell them what he has done. Also, contact the issuers of the unauthorized cards, explain what has happened and demand that the accounts be closed. Where he has added his name to your own accounts, have him removed. Get a credit report to see if he has damaged your credit rating; if he has, you will need to do some work to restore it. Your credit card issuers will have some pamphlets about dealing with problems like this; get them, read them, and do what they say.

Good luck.
