Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I have a friend who just got arrested for residential burglary. He's been in trouble before but only misdemeanors and he's finished his AWP and other court appointed classes. He's plead not guilty for the burglary. How long do you think he will get?

There is no way to predict what might happen without knowing all the facts of his case.
Residential burglary is a very serious offense. It carries a maximum sentence of six years in prison. It is also prison presumptive, which means a judge can only grant probation in unusual cases where the interests of justice will be served -- for instance, if the defendant is young and has a limited criminal record.
Finally, it is a strike under the Three Strikes law, and can increase the punishment for any future felony conviction.
