Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
hi, my friend found a cellphone. sold it to me. the next day i sold it back to him. he was arrested, and he got a ticket for receiveing stolen property. had to go to court. he has to appear again this month. he wants me to appear in court to say he did not have the phone on the night he sold it to me. should i go or that would make me part of the case? he has 2 strikes on him. i have never been in trouble. i dont know what to do. please help me.

Avoid the situation. Do not talk to the police. If you receive a subpoena, and only if you receive a subpoena, go to court and if you are asked anything about the phone say "I take the Fifth" or "I respectfully declinie to answer on the grounds that the answer may tend to incriminate me."
