Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
my friend is in jail and waiting for trial to start. the trial was postponed due to code 1050PC. what does this mean?

Penal Code 1050 says the prosecution or defense can ask the judge to continue, or postpone, a criminal case.
The side that is asking for a continuance must convince the judge there is "good cause."
That could mean that lab results aren't back, an attorney is ill or unavailable, or the defense is trying to find a witness.
