Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Fugitive

My friend skipped out on a sentence for 10-20 for narcotics posession. My friend wants to know what will happen if they turn themself in. No rehab was offerred, but they are an addict. As a citizen through marriage will they be deprted to their country of origin to serve the sentence? Will they really serve 10-20 years?

Re: Fugitive

Barry Sands was correct in his reply. There are insufficient facts to give a thorough answer.

Generally the courts will not deal with an escaped fugitive until they surrender themselves.

If he/she is already a citizen, the papers were answered truthfully, and the application predates the criminal conviction the individual will not be deported.

The law turns on the facts. Change one fact, and the answer changes.

Lots of luck.
