Gang signs

Is it illegal to ''throw'' gang signs in the united states or more specifically in California? Seems like it should be protected speech. Just curious.

Legal or illegal, protected speech or not, do not be stupid and do not throw gang signs around in the good old US of A. The cops will think you are a real gang member and will f*** with you until you are blue in the face with regret.
