Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I gave a friend a ride and she agreed to pay for Gas. She went in and paid and came back out and said "stop at $20" so i did. I asked her to sit with the kids in the car while i went in to get some drinks and use the ladies room and she said "ok but can you get my change while your in there? So i brought her the change and we left. but i now know she was arrested for stolen property, credit card theft and police are wanting me to go in to speak with them in person.I asked if they were coming to my house to do this or where? And the Jackson police officer said "i need you to speak to me in person so there will be no interuptions and preferrably in jackson city limits somewhere" Why cant it be done over the phone like they always are? Why not at my house? Does this mean something??

It could mean they want you to set up a time so they can arrest you. You'd make it real easy for them to find you if you scheduled a time to meet to "talk".
If they think they have enough to arrest you, you're not going to talk your way out of it. They don't want your side of things to clear it up for you... they're hoping to get an incriminating statement from you and arrest you.
Your call should not be to them, but to a local criminal defense attorney to discuss things. Your lawyer can then run interference on your behalf.
