How do i get My ex girlfriend to Pay me Back for What she Owes?

I gave my ex a book of checks for her to use while I was away. We had agreed verbally that when ever she takes out money out of my account she would pay me back. Now she owes me more than $3,000.00 and everytime I ask her to put it back into my account she doesnt answer my phone calls or reply back to my emails. What should I do? Can I legally go to her house and ask her to pay me back. I want to know even though I let her forge my signature is that still considered fraud?

You can approach her about the debt but be careful not to use any physical or abusive threats. She could call the cops on you and you would be in trouble. Since you let your ex use and sign the checks, you cannot call the police on her. Besides, it is possible you yourself might get into trouble for letting her forge your signature.

This kind of matter is best for small claims court where you can obtain a judgement for the debt that your ex owes you. It would be quick and cheap and you would not have to hire lawyers as attorneys are not allowed to represent clients in small claims. Perhaps a threat of being dragged to court and facing judgment would persuade your ex to pay back and get rid of you quickly.
