Unless you can retain a private attorney or want to go to trial without an attorney, you should request a Marsden hearing. Although you have the right to a court appointed attorney you do not have the right to a particular attorney. Timing is also important. If your case has a trial or other court hearing the judge may deny your request. Consulting with a private attorney would be a prudent course of action.
