Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Grand Theft $4000

I took $4000 from my friends mom who claimed I only took $3300 but I want to be honest and pay them back the full amount I know I took. My question is what is the punishment looking like for me in this case? Will I get jail time or probation? What kind of fine will I be looking at also? I just got a job and dont wanna lose it if I have to serve time and I dont know much about this kind of legal stuff. Thanks.

The potential sentence etc will depend upon facts that you have not included. Such as priors, the particular judge, district attorney and your friend's mom.
