Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
hello
i recently posted a question about my case, which is that my employer fired me for embezzelment, i have a court date next month, i wanted to contact my employer and see i can make right and some kind of civil settlement, i dont have a criminal file, i had been a law abiding worker all my life, but i was advise against going to my ex-bossees, instead i was advised to get a lawyer, which i did, but he is asking 2000 dollars plus the amount that i took (800) so he can take my case, which he said it can be resolved without me going to court or jail, and maybe the charges being drop, but im still looking for a job and i dont have 2000 dollars, PLEASE anybody from my area that can help me?, i can pay in installments, but not all together, im really nervous and depress about my situation, i would really appreciate if someone out there can help me.
thank you

Your question sounds similar to many I see posted. Yes, times are tough, but not having the money to retain the attorney does not equate to needing a free lawyer. I cannot tell you how many times I have been asked by clients to accept payments, and when I tell them they can pay me on a credit card and pay VISA payments, they lose interest. The only difference I can see between making monthly payments to me and to VISA is that you can't stop paying VISA when the case is done.
