Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Hello,

I am a resident of California and i was recently issued two citations and court dates for two isolated insedences, they both involved possesion of marijuana in a vehicle ( the first also invovled a failure to stop at a stop sign.) I went through great hassel to change my first court date to a different date becuase i am student who regularary lives in a different county. So my questions are, would be wise or unwise to try to have both incedents taken care of on the same court date? I have a written doctors prescription for medicinal marijuana, will I be covered? and if not, what kind of punishment am I looking at? besides fines and fees is there a chance I could have my liscence revolked and be put on probation? Thank you

You should do absolutely everything you can to have these citations dismissed. Having a marijuana conviction on your record can and probably will have negative consequences on your future. For example, if you are a student, you will be disqualified from any federal student aid if you have such a conviction.

If you have a doctor's recommendation for use of marijuana having the citations dismissed should not be too difficult, absent some unusual circumstances such as significant quantity etc. Also, scheduling the cases on the same day might be possible, especially if you retain a lawyer. Consider hiring one.
