Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
HS 11379 (a)
My friend was suffering from drug addiction and depression and has spoke about suicide several times. When he said he was ''going to the bridge to jump'', the 911 call was made by me after he left with his vehicle contained with all his life belongings including paraphernalia and multiple drug possessions which then led police in a chase after my friend. Obviously at the time of fled 2800.2 he was completely under the influence and not in the right state of mind. This is why I ask about possibilities of getting this dropped from a transport to a possession of sale. The narcotic investigation found narcotics anonymous paperwork and personal scale in car, the sale charge has been dropped. Yes, he's on parole and one prison prior but with no previous drug charges ever before. I guess I'd just thought I was helping the guy and now it's blown up into some huge evading police chase and now I feel bad that he's going to have to do over 3 yrs for what I thought I was doing was saving him from endangering himself. He hasn't gone to prelim yet so we'll see.

Personally, if I were going to end it all, I would be sure and consume all my intoxicants beforehand. Any sane person would. Therefore, your friend must have been insane. Insanity is a defense to many criminal charges. The best thing you can do for Your Friend would be to help him find and retain a good criminal defense lawyer if he does not already have one.
