identifing them self as officer.

when officers knock on your door and someone from inside ask who is it and they replied its bob,i thought they were to identifiy them self as officers of the law were can i find the answer to this please help

I am not aware of an instance in which the California Courts have over turned searchs done under a warrant in which the police officers improperly identified themselves. The issue isn't the knock on the door but the officers entering your residence. And because of the safety issues for the officers I doubt the California Courts require the offices to announce that they are police officers to get you to open your door prior to the police entering your residence.
