Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
illegal search and seizures
If the police came to my house looking for someone who doesn't live there and is let in to see for themselves, do they have the right to start flipping over towels or mess with personal belongings of mine?

Re: illegal search and seizures
The super short and general answer is - no, unless you gave them your consent. The cops are limited to searching for someone for whom they have a warrant, or a probationer or parole, and only to places where the person they are looking for can be reasonably found.
