impound search

My pickup I just bought was impounded by chp officer and he took inventory of tools in truck then it was towed to impound yard now two months later the DA sent me a letter charging me with poss. of narcotics and sales,nothing was found the night it was impounded.do they have the right to search without consent or warrant?and if truck is not in my name how can they charge me?

I am not sure that I fully understand events surrounding the CHP impounding the truck. However, it would appear that you were in possession of the truck when it was impounded. That the DA is charging you with possession of drugs found in the truck. That would would be sufficient evidence to support a charge of you having possession the drugs. You should immediately retain an attorney to represent you in this matter. Also do not talk to the police or anyone other than your attorney regarding this matter.
