Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
inciting a riot
Can a book or movie be grounds for inciting a riot, i.e. a movie about a group who go after and kill CEO who receive huge bonus when company fails. So if the movie was made and a group actually committed these crimes portrayed in movie, but completely independent of author/scriptwriter, would author be liable?

Very doubtful that a lawsuit such as you describe would get anywhere.
Probably it would be thrown out on First Amendment grounds
