Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Incompetent Public Defender

My sons public defender refused him going to trial, lied about eyewitness, no investigation, convinced him to take plea then didn't show for plea hearing, where DA told substitute there is no witness & he has strike, ha, ha, then the pd walks out at sentencing saying he had more important things to do, left him to face it alone, is this right also for some reason the court hearings were very quiet, hardly any discussion, no questions ask it was strange, but only my sons all others were vocal and debating issues or sentences. Am I wrong in thinking he got screwed he had a strike before this and this was a petty theft with co-defendant walking out of court no future obligations on him. He has appealed but that lawyer isn't talking to me and his mail takes two weeks to get to him in prison, what should I do to help him this is killing me. thanks Patty

Re: Incompetent Public Defender

You should consider hiring an attorney to review the police reports, transcripts of court appearances and the plea bargain agreement.
