how could a stepfather prove he is not guilty ?

Criminal defendants don't have to prove they are innocent. The prosecution has to prove them guilty. To prevent this from happening, call a lawyer.

I concur, the burden of proof is on the State to prove he WAS indecent, not the other way around...though the press and media often want to confuse the public into thinking it's the other way around.
If the child is over 14 years, then the Court will probaly allow the child to also speak, although it may be in a separate on-camera video.
