Re: inhancments

There are various sentencing enhancements.

Some add additional time based on your criminal history. For example, there can be a one-year sentence enhancement if you've been to prison and haven't stayed out of custody for 5 years before this current case. There can be another one that adds 5 years if the prior conviction was for a serious felony and the current case is a serious felony. There can be one that adds 2 years if you commit a new offense while out on bail for another offense.

Then there are "conduct" enhancements. There can be additional punishment based on the extent of an injury inflicted on the victim, the use of weapons, gang charges, etc.

If you have on prior "strike" alleged, it doubles any felony sentence. Two prior strikes means any new felony is a potential 25 to life sentence.

There are just too many to list. They can add time, double the sentence or make a person ineligible for probation.

Re: inhancments

Different enhancements work differently. Some add 1 year to state prison time (state prison priors). Some can double the sentence.
