Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

jail not giving information

How can I find out if my son is okay.He is in a correctional fautity in merced ca. and havent heard from which is not like him.When i call to see if he is alive or dead they tell all we can tell you is that he is here.Around 3 or so weeks ago one of the inmates a young man died and the mother was not told the true story.It was in the news paper which worrys me that my son which could be out on their work n lieu program but they just tell me that they are too busy and not to worry cause'' nobody is going to die' can be hurt and its just making me sick.Do I have to get a lawyer to go inside to talk to my son just so I can find out that he is okay???

Have you attempted to go there during visiting hours and visit him? If distance is a problem you could certainly hire a local lawyer to go and attempt to visit him. Of course, he is not required to accept the visit.

You could also try contacting groups such as M2 or Friends Outside.
