Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

So I went to jail last summer for 4 mo. I got out jan 12. I had left my car with my brother. When I got out he proceeded to tell me that my car had been stolen the night before I was released.

After some time & my own personal Investigation I found out that he had sold the car. Now mind you all proof of my ownership was in my car. I was the registered owner. How is it possible that when I finally did call to make a report with the local PD that they couldn't find the car at all under my name. I did not sign any thing and as I understand it.for a lein sale to go through the registered owner has to be notified by certified letter. That never happened.

Thanks for any help

Mr. Stone answered your question. It sounds like to me that he transferred ownership of the car to himself, while you were in jail. That is why the police could not find that the car was registered under your name.
