Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

has his junk on my comp ive read his email

i am filing for divorce from my husband. i had been reading his email for a few years, and he would have me answer most of them in the past for him not feeling like typing. now says hes filing charges against me for reading his email. he gave me the password but regardless it was done on my computer, and knows i have it still. he has told people he changed the password and im spying on his every move. he has been into unusual sexual activities and i believe it shows a pattern of his current state of mind- custody issue...he is furious ive read his email. can he actually press charges against me because i wanted to know what was going on at this time? please advise.

There are ways of proving things. I sincerely doubt that he's going to be able to cause criminal charges to be filed against you. What I would do now, if he's still living with you, and if it's your computer, is turn on your password for your computer so that he can't access it any more. Or, if you're sharing it, tell him to password protect his side of the computer. These days, there can be different logon names on one computer, and everyone can password protect their logon account.
