Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

jury selection promise

The judge ''guaranteed'' that the trial will be over before the departure date of my non-refundable airline tickets. Did he just lie to me? Does he really have this authority? Will he actually remember/care/follow through? I'm very unhappy about this!

Re: jury selection promise

The judge based his answer on his experience. It is not an assurance but rather a reliable prediction.

If there are alternate jurors and the deliberations are still going on when your plane is scheduled to leave, the judge will probably let you go and have an alternate take your seat.
