Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Jury Trials

My cousin is being accused of a crime that is hitting the papers alot in our town. He is suppose to go to trial in january. My question is he is to have a jury trial but the papers have really made him look bad. When they pick the jury will they be picked from this county since they might already have their minds made up because of the papers. Or do we have to ask for a trial in a different county?

Bottom line is that it is almost impossible to get a change of venue these days. You have to show that based upon the intense media coverage, that it would be impossible to find a fair and impartial jury in your venue. I am not saying that it is impossible, but recent cases have shown that it is almost always denied!!
