juvenile molestation

My niece was molested by her father as a child for a period of a few months as she recalls,she swore me to secrecy, she's applying to be a sheriff deputy she's 19, in the process there will be a polygraph test done and one of the questions is about molestation,she does not want to get her father in trouble. could he? she's gonna tell the truth? her father according to her has apologized,there was no penetration she's very sketchy when it comes to describing the incidents,what should I tell her? Help

She must check the statute of limitations for the Penal Code section for whatever act was performed, or could potentially get her father in trouble. The statute of limitations is found at section 803 of the Penal Code. The statute most often used for molestation is p.c. 288, with, I believe, an 8 year statute of limitations.
