Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

juvenille charges

Situation:A friend of mine is 17 and will be 18 towards the end of this year. She has been in and out of placement since she was 13.Before they released her to the custody of her last grouphome she had to sign a CYA(California Youth Athority) commitment, having more than 9 years on her books she was told that they could hold her untill she was 25 even though they are juvenille charges. But they did not specify whether or not this was possible if she was caught after her 18th birthday. She is currently on the run and considered AWOL.

Question:If she remains AWOL untill after her 18th birthday, will she still be held accountable for her juvenille charges even though the situation states that they were going to hold her untill she was 25 yrs. of age?

Re: juvenille charges

Your friend is in serious trouble and can be punished for quite some time. He/She cannot simply run from the law until he/she is 26 years old and get out of this. You need to call someone for assistance ASAP. I would suggest someone from our firm who has tons of experience in juvenile law.
