Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

juvinile assault

My sister assaulted another girl at school. The girl was sent to the hospital by ambulance with a busted lip. This is my sisters first time ever commiting a crime or getting in trouble. There has been many name calling arguments from both parties leading up to the assault. What can we expect to happen?

Re: juvinile assault

There is a lot of different possibilities in juvenile cases where the judge has a very broad discretion about what to. A juvi case often can be dismissed of course, when handled by a good lawyer, could end in probation or, sometimes, in detention in a camp.

It is difficult to tell you what the outcome will be without knowing more facts. A lot of different factors play a role, including whether there is prior record, where the case is heard, behavior of the victim and other mitigating or aggravating facts. I suggest you contact, and possibly retain, a private lawyer to guide you through this process and ensure the best possible outcome for your sister.
