My son,a juvinille is acused and summons to court in regards to vehicle tire slashings,terroist threat,and other vadalisim charges.All charges thus far are based on hear-say.Here's my question:I can't afford an attorney and I was denied a public defender.I don't work but have a small income coming in now and again.Why was I denied a PD,so what can I do now to have someone represent my child.I don't know what to do and can't seem to find any answers.Could you please possibly help me with that info?Also,can we supina witnesses for our court.

You and your son were denied a public defender either because you have sufficient assets and income to hire private counsel or because you did not give the court enough information about your finances.

If you have savings, now is a good time to spend some of it. (This is the rainy day you've been saving for.) If you own a home, you can borrow against your equity. If you own any investments or have other valuable property you can sell some or all of it. Or maybe you can take out a loan.

If none of these options is available and you gave the court all of the required information, you should call the local public defender's office to see if they have any advice to offer. They may be able to persuade the judge to change his mind, or perhaps they can help you present your situation more effectively.
