Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

kidnapping charges

if my friend went to another persons house and that person let him cause he knew him, then some other guys came in and started to beat this man, my friend stood there in shock, the victim says that my friend was not involved in the things that were done to him, still they are charging him with kidnapping, burglary, and a gun which he had no idea what was going on, my friend is only 19 and has no record, the other guy has 2 strikes, going on 3. So my question is why are they charging my friend with the same charges if he didnt know what was going to happen, he just went in the house with permission. and they want to give my friend life

Re: kidnapping charges

It is impossible to answer your question without knowing more about the facts of the case, at the very least without seeing the police report and the scope of the allegations and evidence against your friend. Your friend needs an attorney, period. If he cannot afford a private one - he will be entitled to services by a public defender.

Knowing why things are happening the way thet are is not going to help your friend. Have him call me if he is in LA county
