Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I don't need a lawyer at the moment. I would like to know is there anyway to make payments to a law firm so if I ever do need a lawyer I will have one?

Yes. It's called a retainer agreement. You pay the law firm an agreed amount each month (or at some other interval you agree upon), and in return the lawyers promise to be available if you need them. The agreements normally state the terms on which the lawyers would work for you when needed.

You can always have an attorney on retainer. Most retainer agreements are done for a specific task or case, but if you want to come to an agreement with an attorney so you can have them available to you under the terms you agree - that can happen as well.

Its not advisable. The attorney you think is great now, may not be the best choice when crunch time comes. Better plan, save your money and stay out of trouble.
