In Californiia, any agreement over 1000 dollars MUST be in writing, clearly spelling out the peramiters of the legal representation. I don't know what agreements were signed in your case, if any, but that is where you would start to analyze if the attorney in question acted improperly or not. If you want me to take a look at the retainer, contact me thru my website at www.wallinlaw.com. David Wallin

Yes, it is possible to hire an attorney to review your court transcript and it is also possible for an attorney to review your bill with a previous attorney.
In California all agreements between attorneys and clients that are $1,000.00 or more must be in writing. It is called the attorney client fee agreement. That document should explain what you were getting for your initial retainer. There also should have been a discussion about the additional funds that were required. Take your fee agreement to another attorney and have them review it. You should have additional information after that. Feel free to contact my office if you are shopping for an attorney to review your contract. Good Luck.
