Is it legal in California for police to search the home of a legally registered sex offender without a warrant as part of a general compliance check even if the sex offender home owner denies them entry?

Police cannot search a person's home just because he or she is required to register as a sex offender.
However, if a person is on parole, or on probation with terms requiring him to submit to searches, no warrant is required.
