Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
is it legal for a lawyer to remove a criminal case file from the court before an appeal and destroy it

Not only is it "illegal", but it's an extremely serious accusation. If true, it is a criminal act that would likely result in the attorney's suspension or disbarment. If you are sure of this, report it to the police and the District Attorney of the County in which the file was stolen. But please be sure of your facts before you continue with such a serious accusation. If you are just assuming something, you are wrong to make the accusation.
