Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
legal rights to change judges
I was arrested for possesion and i was bailed out, then about 6 weeks san jose police came to my work stating they had 2 seperate warrents for my arrest 1 for no bail and 1 for 15,000. I showed the officer my letter with my new court date wh9ich was in about 4 or 5 days but the officers said its probably a clerical error but you still need to go talk to the judge and then you can go back to work. but the officer tok me down town arrested me and said well i don't know when the judge will see you and left and i was taken to elm wood jail. then i went to court 2 more times and my case was even confusing to Judge Fox. thenm i went to court and this Judge was so aggresive, stateing false statments, stating things that wasnt true and wanted to arrest me again and ask me to give him a good enough reason not to. I said because Im a good person I havent even had a traffic ticket in 8yrs. Judge Cole said I dont care and if I dont come to court with a lawyer he will arrest me and gave me another court date.
help me please glenora

You should immediately call several attorney's and attempt to make arrangements for one of them to represent you in court the next time you have to appear.
If you are unable to hire an attorney then contact the public defender's office and make an appointment for an interview.
When you return to court you can give the court the names of the attorney's you talked to or the public defender will tell the court that you either qualified for that office to represent you or that you did not qualify. The public defender has a list of attorneys that have agreed to accept clients for a lower fee or to arrange payments.
If you have done this the court should appoint the public defender or give you one more chance to hire an attorney. If you go back to court without having taken these steps the judge will remand you into custody thereby making you eligible for the public defender, as you will no longer be able to work.
