Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

legalities of suffocation and strengulation

My friend is in jail on charges of trying to suffocate and/or strengle someone else, not me. He has a lawyer but this lawyer is not helping him at all. I want to know laws pertaining to suffocation and strengulation of another person. This did not happen.

Thank you for your posting.

You've asked for the "legalities of suffocation and strangulation". As you might expect, both are illegal.

You may wish to check out the "Strangulation Resource Center" on the web, at:

I hope this helps, and best of luck.

Re: legalities of suffocation and strengulation

in a nutshell, the charges against this person would be along the lines of aggravated assault and battery, in which there are various defenses that can be used to challenge the charges. if the attorney on the case is "lazy", he/she may not explore all options and you should probably have this person charged with the crimes seek new counsel if he is dissatisfied with his representation to date. if you can email more detailed facts on what exactly happened, i may be able to provide more legal assistance.
