Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Litigation Question
I put my car as a downpayment on a
car that my fiance and I were going to
share. We ended our relationship
shortly after, and I found out that my
name is not on the new car. Do I have
any rights to that money or the car?

Re: Litigation Question
You can go to small claims court and try to prove your case, but the most you can get is a judgment for money. One way to enforce a judgment for money is to have the sheriff take and sell the car at auction, but this is expensive and a hassle and you would probably rather go after their bank account or paycheck.
