How long does the DA have to file charges against someone in a felony assault case in the state of CA. Is there a statue of filing charges against someone in this case?

In general, the statute of limitations for a felony such as this is three years. There are some exceptions for sexual assault cases, but assuming this is a felony aggravated assault against an adult, it's three years.
