It might take up to a year for the DA to decide whether charges will be filed, sometimes longer. Unfortunately,they can also hold your property for as long as they sit on the case. Their obligation is to return it to you whenever the property stops being useful as evidence. They never return any drugs or other contraband.

I would contact a lawyer to see whether an aggressive approach in pressuring the DA to officially reject your case and return the property is appropriate in your case.
