How do I get my Calif. Drivers license back, after it has been denied by the Calif. DMV due to non payment of child support. lost my job, cant get a job without a drivers license to drive my vehicle to work (have a valid ID card), cnat get license until I start paying child support. Re: Loss of License due to Child support

Thank you for your inquiry, and you truly are in one of the "catch-22" areas of our legal system. The DMV will only give you your license back if the entity placing a hold on the license files a release form. If it's a government agency, like the DA's child support unit, it's common to negotiate to agree to a payment plan in exchange for a lift of the hold on your license. If you're dealing with an individual, it may be more personal, and thus more difficult, but payments, or even a lump sum payment to compromise the amount are all theoretically possible to lift the hold.
